oh the PSones screens current draw is misleading. It draws about 110mA more at full volume while playing the starfox intro (heavy bass).

Thanks for that. I'll add that the audio amp adds 100ma.

I did some math and the ps2 uses about 3,000 mAh
I see the A you posted but it can give some general playtime as well for noobs, like me, thats why I figured it out... :D

Where'd you get that figure from? I get about 2 hours playtime from 3800 mAh NiMh's, powering a screen as well.

Or is that the original ps2

Mario I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to put this list together. It's handy! Plus when we get questions about "what battery should I get" we can point them this direction, telling them that step 1 is knowing what the system requirements are.

I need to get working on that ultimate battery guide that I promised a while back... That combined with this thread will be great and useful.

Yes that would be awesome for people like me...Afraid of Li-Ions, but want to use them so bad

Thanks for the nice comments! I'm glad one of you bumped this thread for me.
I think I'll add another feature: How much battery life you would get with a 5,500 mAh battery with a LED modded PS1 screen.

EDIT: Just did.

The answer would an astounding 13 hours and 45 minutes!
For one led modded PS1 Screen
And another section how to wire up a 7808/7805

http://www.dimensionengineering.com/images/products/DE-SW0XXbig.jpg
Like the names on the regulator
What to connect to what
Like main line goes into one, but I thought only one wire would come out
What do I do about ground?
You know things like that, and then one day we would remake it into
sections

Consoles
-How to wire
Screens
-How to wire
Batteries to use
Advantages/disadvantages of Certain kinds
-Then ni-hm
-----How to cut up those large RC car packs to move cells around the case
-And Li-ion categories
-----Then protection circuit category
How to add a charge jack
How use the correct switches
And how to figure amps, A, Ma, mAh, Advantages/disadvantages of batteries

Basically answer every question possible, but you will say it will be very long to do etc.
But if every good portableizer adds in just one part to this we will have a very decent thread

So, Ill start
To cut up large battery packs like this
http://www.onlybatteries.com/showitem.asp?ItemID=14501.55&cat1=12&uid=1010
Open the plastic with an exacto knife
Then very carefully bend it to reveal metal tabs, then I files them down the middle, added wires and solder
Now move them as you please

But all of this will be on the first page, or a new thread so its not jumbeled up

:P
You have to include the console, too!

Anyways, I added the estimates! All the consoles have battery life estimates under them now. And the one with the most battery life is a Genesis! 8.5 hours!
I found that the Genesis only draws 200mA, but that really doesn't seen right. Does anybody know if that is correct or not?

Yaaay! Stickied! Thanks, CronoTriggerfan! :D

That's a great idea. I think a separate thread would work better for that, though. Like Life of Brian said a couple posts earlier, he was going to work on a thread like that.

1) was this really necessary? all of this information is already in it's proper location.

2) do not edit people's diagrams. especially without permission. make your own. it would have taken you the same amount of time to make your own as it did to edit it. please edit your post to remove my edited diagrams.

3) maybe you should wait until your knowledge has grown a bit more before trying to contribute something like this? and when you do, in the future, don't make it an unneeded contribution.

4) make your diagrams easy to follow and understand. do not use 4+ pics to accomplish one diagram.

Exactly, my post is still not started, even though I have 24 hours of free time a day, im just gathering all the facts first
I will include nothing in mine about how to do LI-XX batteries because of heir hazards, just their stats
Someone will have to post in mine the stats on them(Sorry, im just a freak about getting it all right
