Where have all the projects gone?

I know it’s been over a month since I’ve released any portables but I don’t want any of you to worry that I’ve given up, joined a monastery or anything. Quite the contrary – I’m actually working on several new projects at once, most of which are fairly original and cool. That, along with the editing of the documentary, writing for Engadget and preparing to make a game has slowed down my process a bit.

Alright I’d better get back to work now!

Arrr!!! Benheck.com Podcast Episode 5

Avast ye maties! The latest Benheck.com Podcast is now online, and we be tacklin’ the subject of Piracy! Why we think people do it, how it affects industries and the push by companies to provide legal alternatives, such as the Wii’s Virtual Console.

It’s a bit less organized than our other podcasts (I was too busy to fully develop an outline, sorry) but should be worth your time, if only to hear us rip on the quality of modern music. We also discuss ROMS, MAME and CDs versus MP3s on a hard drive, which will last longer and such.

Final sub-topic…

After getting various requests over the years I’ve put the plans for my Neo Geo arcade machine on the Downloads page. They’re in AI and PDF.PSD art for the cabinet is included as well.

No instructions are provided, but you should be able to figure it out. Enjoy…

Packaging Fun

I packed up the Xbox 360 laptop today for shipment to its owner. I thought it looked pretty neat in the packaging and figured I’d snap a photo:

Click for big version

It fit pretty nicely into the LCD box/foam. Almost looks like an OEM deal, doesn’t it? Goodbye, my troublesome friend! Watch out for transit damage…

New Benheck.com and Sonic Boom Podcasts

Have a couple new podcasts for you this week. Both involve next-generation gaming, with the theme of the Benheck.com podcast specifically being “The Console Wars” Which contains predictions you’ll find nowhere else on internet gaming sites. For a unique (and possibly refreshing) view, listen in!

For all of you who visited this site in the last week, hope you’ve enjoyed the stories and makings of. The server had some problems, but now it’s back with more bandwidth than ever. I’m going to come up with a new layout, hopefully better than this temp one, along with some other cool new features. Stay tuned!

“Echoes of the Past” documentary trailer online

The web trailer for our upcoming documentary “Echoes of the Past” is now online and available for download. The documentary explores the history, myths and legends of a long-abandoned ghost town by the name of “Pere Cheney” in northern Michigan.

Dave and Will explore a northern path near the ghost town.

We’re still deep in post-production but plan to have the finished product out before the end of year. In the meantime you can watch the promotional trailer we’ve put together, available in a variety of formats, using the links below.

Stay tuned to One Man Down Productions and Benheck.com for more information on the documentary as the process nears competition.
